The Stables, Tranent

Under the ownership of the Church Of Scotland, “The stables” had lain in a semi derelict condition for in excess of 50 years. With the assistance of Malcolm Hutchon (Architect), and much liaison with Listed Buildings, Historic Scotland, and East Lothian Planning Department, we managed to come up with a design which was acceptable to all to turn this example of Scottish Vernacular Stables block into a 4 bedroom holiday let cottage, retaining the majority of the traditional features and bringing the interior very much up to 21st century standards.
The whole renovation took 10 months on site, and was not without its challenges, both with Services providers, planners and funding. All worth the effort with the final result.
